At 106 acres and over 40,000 stems, Pando looks like a forest, but it’s not. It’s clones of one tree. Sounding more science fiction than south-central Utah, this extraordinary tree colony helps our planet breathe. But its future is far from certain.
Pando has grown in the Fishlake National Forest for thousands of years, removing carbon from our atmosphere. But grazing, human intrusion (like building roads), and a changing climate threaten its future.
Friends of Pando – our latest Epic Tree Partner – work to help us understand Pando, preserve its future, and educate the public on the power of this natural wonder.
We are committed to making a difference. Giving back to create and preserve the future of our planet – a legacy we can all pass on to future generations. We’re partnering with the Friends of Pando to help protect this extraordinary tree.
Meet Friends of Pando
Preserving Pando and helping it thrive into the future requires a monumental effort. Friends of Pando work tirelessly to help us all understand this natural wonder so that it is here for generations to come. Monitoring, mapping, and preserving Pando, including:
- Scientific research – to understand Pando, asses its health and challenges to its future.
- Educate the public – share knowledge of Pando, how it’s changing, and what that means to our world.
- Preservation – regeneration projects, fencing, and making sure that Pando is protected for the future.
Taking action
Trees are one of our planet’s greatest defences against a changing climate. They absorb tons of CO2 from the atmosphere over their lifetime, keeping our climate stable. We all want to leave a legacy for future generations; for us, it’s all about the planet. That’s why we plant a tree for every AnswerForce customer and colleague, every month, and support Epic Tree Partners around the world.
